      https://nextcloud.com/changelog/#latest22

The biggest improvements Nextcloud Hub 22 introduces are:

      • β• User-defined groups with Circles that makes it easier to manage teams where you can share files or assign tasks to circles, or create chat rooms for a circle
      • πŸ—‚οΈ Integrated chat and task management where you can simply share a deck card into a chat room or turn a chat message into a task
      • πŸ”ƒ Easy approval workflow, where an administrator can define a new approval flow in the settings and users can, on a document, request approval
      • πŸ“ Getting your document signatures easy with integrated PDF signing with DocuSign, EIDEasy, and LibreSign
      • πŸ“š Integrated knowledge management Nextcloud puts knowledge available to everyone at a moments' notice, providing easy search, sharing, and portable access
      • πŸ’Œ Groupware improvements bringing a trash bin feature in Calendar, resource booking to facilitate the handling of resources in organizations. Nextcloud Mail features improved threading, email tagging, and support for Sieve filtering

There are many more new features and changes like notifications in the app navigation, integrated compression in the Files interface, and significant performance improvements to universal search.

@necrevistonnezr right, thanks for the topic, just want to say that as usual, we will wait for at least the first patch release, given the update history with Nextcloud. If there are security releases in between, we of course package those.

@nebulon Sure, I know and totally understand.
Although , most issues that occur are not with Nextcloud β€žCoreβ€œ or even official apps but those third party apps - they should just abandon them altogether and strictly let only tested apps in the AppStore (yeah, i know, sounds like the fruit company…. but there’s a reason for that)

I was going to post about this too. Mostly because I'm really liking how Nextcloud Mail is coming along. They've added Gmail-like tags - something I've never understood not being in Roundcube etc.

Here's a nice little video of them in action:

Nextcloud Talk and Deck (and the integration between them) seems to be coming along nicely too. Perhaps one day I'll think about replacing Rocket.Chat and WeKan with them...

I use Cloudron with Gandi & Hetzner

I'm sorry if I ask a dumb question but I saw that in some of my Cloudron the update to nextcloud to 22.0.0 had been pushed, whereas 22.1.0 is out, is this normal? Isn't 22.1.0 correcting bugs from 22.0.0?

I'm not too familiar with the middle digit release update in nextcloud release cycle so unsure what it actually means (as it is neither a major, nor the usual minor update). I don't think I have seen those before (nor do I see any in the nextcloud server github).

@avatar1024 this versioning is called semver and it's of major.minor.patch format. patch number is changed for bug fixes only. minor adds new features. major usually adds very big features and/or makes incompatible/breaking changes.

So, 22.1.0 would have added some new features over 22.0.0.

@girish Makes sense. It's just I hadn't seen a minor Nextcloud release before so I got confused with this one (especially as it doesn't look like there is the usual patch release a month after the initial NC22 release).

Update: ok so in fact this is a new thing. Though in their blog post they seem to imply that this minor release does include a large bunch of bug fixes over 22.0.0 and is safe to upgrade (in fact they strongly advice to do so). There will not be a 22.0.1 and because they did include one small new feature (multiple email addresses) they named it 22.1.0 instead.

So wouldn't it make sense to push that one instead?

Yes, 22.1.0 will come as well. Hopefully, next week. Currently, we are still pushing out 22.0.0.
