How do we create email accounts on RoundCube, after it has just been installed?

    • What is the default login email/passphrase?
    • How do we add or remove email accounts?
    • For the sake of clarity, lets use the following parameters:m

    Cloudron Forum email: cloudy@email.com
    Cloudron Host: HappyHost.com
    Cloudron Domain Name: example.com
    Domain Name Registration Company: namey.com
    Cloudron Roundcube location: roundy.example.com

    What do we do next?

      Screenshot 2021-11-28 132150.png

      Username: NAME@DOMAIN.COM
      Password: owner's password "administrator"

In RoundCube, go to Settings --> Identities. Create new the "aliases" you have made in Cloudron for that user. You'll be able to send emails as those aliases in Roundcube.

@humptydumpty Thanks, but we still can't work it out from this.

The email is sending ok, as we have managed to send a test message.

I think the username / email field has been completed properly, but the trouble is working out which passphrase.

@loudlemur The password is the same as your Cloudron user. Let's say you set up a fresh Cloudron install. You now have 1 user (which happens to be the admin). Let's say the username is admin and the password is password1. When logging into Cloudron you enter those credentials and it logs you in.

To set up a mailbox you go to Email and add a mailbox. You select lemur as the mailbox name and select admin as the mailbox owner.

In Roundcube, you enter the following:

              username: lemur@domain.com
              password: password1

              HTH!

You don't do that in Roundcube, you do it in Cloudron.

See the Email in the Cloudron menu and the docs
                https://docs.cloudron.io/email/

I use Cloudron with Gandi & Hetzner

@loudlemur Let me know if you need me to go over setting up multiple users and domains and then to have those inboxes forward to a single mailbox. That's my set up + I use Mailgun for outgoing + FreeScout for my work email.

@loudlemur If incoming mail is not working, I would check the following:

                        • Is your MX record correct? host -t MX domain.com . Is it pointing to Cloudron?
                        • Is incoming port 25 open on your server?
                        • Is everything ok in Email -> Domain -> Status ?
                        • Finally, Email -> Logs (top right) -> Raw Logs (again top right). Keep that logs viewer browser window open. Then send an incoming mail to yourself. Do you see anything in the logs?

I looked in the email logs raw logs it seems that the email actually is arriving, but it is not appearing. I think it might be being detected as spam by spam assassin, with its needed score not being sufficiently high. (The hosting company are pretty hot about not having spammers using their services... that might have something to do with it.)

I am going to keep looking, I think i am on the right track,

@loudlemur ah ok, if you see the Mail -> Events (top right), then it should say "received" / "delivered" in the event log viewer. You can double check if you are looking into the correct mailbox. It will also say if the mail was marked as spam or not.

@loudlemur Here are some of the possible trouble indicators in the logs (I have obfusticated the domain names/email addresses)

One clue might be that though I am actually able to send mail, none of it appears in the "Sent" folder.

Also, if I go into "Manage folders", i can't create a folder or even click on those toggle buttons on the "inbox" for example. They don't respond.
