Could be game-over for low-cost high-availability dev-ops and guestimating resource needs:

Their philosophy definitely speaks to me:

      • https://docs.contabozerops.com/documentation/overview/how-zerops-works-inside/typical-schemas-of-zerops-projects.html

Focus on Development, Leave Operations to Us

Zerops is a developer-first app cloud platform which builds, deploys, runs, and manages your apps.
      • Automated Infrastructure Orchestration
      • Built by Developers for Developers
      • High-availability with Automated Scaling
      • Elastic and Transparent Pricing Model

Can I run Docker on Zerops?
Docker is not supported at this time, the virtualization environment used by Zerops (LXD) does not allow for its stable and secure operation. We are planning to include native support for Docker in the future.

How is Zerops different from other cloud platforms?
There are three features that make Zerops unique. First is the fully automatic autoscaling in both vertically and horizontal directions. The second is the serious fully managed Kubernetes-like infrastructure that gets deployed with each project. The third is the pricing model that ties the first two features together. The result is a platform that can truly be used from local developement (where it can fully replace or supplement Docker) to production, no matter is the application get ten or ten thousands visits per hour.

What type of applications are suited for Zerops?
Zerops makes use of containers as well as high availability setups of services, most modern frameworks / applications are ready for this. Rule of thumb is - headless modern applications build using CI/CD = great, WordPress / Magento, old stateful applications with install wizards that you would upload using FTP = not so easy.

Where is Zerops hosted / who is behind Zerops?
Zerops is being built on the back of 16 years of experience providing managed cloud services on Over 9000 servers in our own data center via our mother company, vshosting~ Support for multi-regionality is planned for later through our sister company Contabo.

This is the kinda thing needed to offer a reliable HA SaaS and not be on disaster-recovery duty 24/7.

Quick win for Cloudron high availability apps? @girish @nebulon

Their object storage looks cheap, at <10 EU for 1TB.

@robi Not as cheap as Wasabi, still don't know any cheaper option than that.

This Zerops alternative to K8S looks remarkable, though! I can't think of a cheaper way to replicate the same on any other host or stack. With this pricing, I don't think I could be arsed to look any further, either.

              Hi @robi @marcusquinn

For more information about Wasabi costs, I advise you to check this forum thread (https://forum.cloudron.io/post/32778).

In Wasabi, sometimes it is not the cheapest provider, it will depend on your storage usage.

@martinkbs Yeah, biggest gotchyas are to disable storing versions indefinitely, and bearing in mind that reducing storage doesn't reduce costs for 90 days due to their policies.

On balance, it's been marginally cheaper than Backblaze for us, but definitely needs caution to avoid unexpected higher costs.

@martinkbs Is it known what they use as their backend? Or something custom built perhaps.
