VPS location choice : NL ?

Looking at getting a new bigger VPS for better bang per buck (pricing evolves over time).
In one provider I see some locations are cheaper than others, eg US or NL vs UK.

Instinctively I lean towards my own country (UK) for reduced latency on accessing.
But my main Cloudron is on Hetzner in DE and I don’t see any performance issues.

I avoid US and CA because of privacy laws and internet regulation.
And UK has RIPA laws which I don’t fully understand but likely to get more odd or restrictive with probable change to Labour government.

Does anyone know what NL privacy laws are like ? Similar to DE ?
The discount for NL location might be interesting if the regulatory regime is not toxic.

I've tried for a while to get a good UK based VPS as I moved away from Bytemark a while ago and haven't found anything as good. I'd love to go with Mythic Beasts but they aren't competitive. I use Hetzner right now but there was doubting voices about them on Mastodon a couple of months back when they failed to stop some abuse, not sure what was exactly going on there.
