I‘m running cloudron and peertube on a 16CPU/32GB Hetzner VPS object storage (Hetzner as well) enabled. Streaming is partly quite slow. When I download video files i only get about 4MB/s. When directly downloading the file from S3 (100MB/s). Any idea what can cause that?
Server ressources should be more than sufficient. Ressources in cloudron 100%CPU 6GB Ram.

If you have from the “Shared” offer then you may have a very slow connection at different times due to interference by other servers. I, too, had several days in a row of connection problems with Object Storage in the same location (Falkenstein) on Nextcloud. I recommend a dedicated Cloud server to buy, I also plan to migrate.

EDIT: I would still add that having a shared server using Object Storage from another company also had connection problems.

I've got a Hetzner dedicated server (I think it was needing the power for Peertube transcoding that was one of the triggers) and use Scaleway Object Storage to store media and seem to have OK speeds, see https://uniteddiversity.tv and https://bridport.tv

I use Cloudron with Gandi & Hetzner

@jdaviescoates can you try to download a video file an check the speed?
          Problem and former solution here:
          https://forum.cloudron.io/post/84742

Unfortunately I cant find the config file as mentioned in that post.

edit: just tested your server. You also have a max of 4 MB/s of DL speed. That's okay for 720p but too slow for 1080 and 4k.

I just did a short test too and I wasn't even getting anywhere near 4MB/s!

@vividly8450 said in Poor network throughput, limited to PeerTube:

You can adjust this hard limit by modifying peertube.conf and adjusting the values listed below:

              proxy_limit_rate
              $peertube_limit_rate

@vividly8450 could you please explain how you found/ edited peertube.conf on Cloudron? thanks!

I use Cloudron with Gandi & Hetzner
