I've been using Navidrome and it's been working fine for the most part. Lately, I've been experiencing high CPU spikes and frequent crashes, so I'm looking for alternatives. I'd like to have a desktop and iOS app if possible. A search in the app store comes up with the following:

    • Koel
    • Ampache
    • Emby

    A penny for your thoughts!

@humptydumpty I tried all of them, but I did like Navidrome most, followed by Koel. Ampache was okish and I didn't like Emby.

Regarding the Navidrome crashes. If you have many music files, I suggest to raise the memory limit. The default one is to low.

I also use Navidrome. I hardly ever use the web interface though. I mostly just stream to my phone using https://ultrasonic.gitlab.io/ (although that has some mildly frustrating bugs).

I use Cloudron with Gandi & Hetzner

@Kubernetes I had the memory set at 2GB. Graphs show memory usage of 1.3GB max, but I just upped it to 4GB. I'll give Koel a try. Thanks!

@jdaviescoates I reported an Amperfy bug upstream, but it looks like they all have bugs and I'm thinking the server might be at fault here, or at least in my case as the message is about connection/stream errors.

It's weird how the spikes are evenly spaced out. It was more obvious in the 6-hour view.

I'm not sure what's causing all this as a lot has changed recently, but it could be:

          • gave app access to entire family
          • added a ton more files
          • recent updates

Can I use Minio to store all my music files and then connect it to Navidrome or Koel so I don't have to upload things twice?

Edit: In case of Koel, I need the PLUS plan to enable S3 support https://koel.dev/#plus

Probably. I've got all my music on a Hetzner Storage Box mounted as a Volume using SSHFS and then have mounted that into the storage section of Navidrome and Jellyfin (and previously AzuraCast too but that seems to mostly just not work very well, yet), oh and now (as of last night) into Syncthing too which keeps it synced with my local ~/Music folder.
