We have an open thread with girish about GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) support for apps through CDI (Container Device Interface):

In that thread girish said that a gpu manifest capability similar to vaapi would be reasonable, and we have asked whether the team would prefer a merge request or a written specification first.

If the answer turns out to be a merge request, we will need somewhere to push a branch, and we understand from an earlier thread that registration on git.cloudron.io is closed against bots and that accounts are created manually.

Could an account be created for this address? We are happy to wait until girish confirms he wants the patch, if you would rather not create accounts speculatively. We can add an SSH public key ourselves once an account exists, or send one now if that is easier.

The change in question is small: a guard and one HostConfig.DeviceRequests entry in src/docker.js, mirroring how vaapi works today.

We are currently adding the login with cloudron.io to GitLab for easy access for our users.

A note for you since I know you do a lot with AI.
If you want to keep accessing GitLab with your AI Agent you should install the glab cli and instruct your AI Agents to use the glab cli to access the Cloudron GitLab.

@james With the account as it stands you can clone and read, but you cannot fork the box, cannot create a repo to push a branch to, and cannot open a merge request. We hold zero group and project memberships.

Could you please lift the project limit and grant fork or member access?

@james Thank you for the account, and for raising the project limit.

Two things still block us, and I think one small change fixes both.

Our user account is flagged as external, which in current GitLab means it cannot create projects in its own namespace whatever the project limit is set to. Separately, platform/box has forking and merge requests restricted to project members, so can_create_merge_request_in comes back false for us.

The simplest fix, if you are willing: grant mostcloudron Developer on platform/box. Then we can push a branch and open a merge request directly, with no fork and no personal namespace involved, which is the same arrangement you already run for contributors in the packages group.

If you would rather keep contributors at arm's length, the alternative is to remove the external flag and set forking to "Everyone with access", and we will work from a fork instead.

Either is fine. The context is the GPU and CDI work in https://forum.cloudron.io/topic/15756, where we have asked girish whether the team would like a merge request or a written specification first. This is only so that we are not blocked on plumbing if the answer is a merge request.
