SFTP Access not working
-
As of today, I cannot access the server via apps like "Cloud Mounter" or "Transmit."
When I try to connect, it asks for my password; I am certain the password is correct, yet it is being rejected.
Even if I go to any installed cloud app and select "SFTP Access," the system does not respond.
I know the problem isn't my Cloud Mounter application, because other Amazon drives mount perfectly. -
I’ve done some additional testing and can confirm that the issue does not appear to be related to CloudMounter.
I tested the SFTP connection directly from the terminal, completely bypassing CloudMounter.
The SFTP server responds normally and asks for the password, but after entering the correct password it returns:
Permission denied, please try again.
This confirms that the authentication is being rejected directly by the SFTP server.
Additionally, I have an Amazon S3 drive mounted through the same CloudMounter installation, and it is working normally.
The issue started today and affects my Cloudron SFTP connections, which were working normally before.
So at this point, the issue seems to be related specifically to SFTP authentication rather than CloudMounter. -
Right there was a change in Cloudron 10 that SFTP credentials work with app passwords and not anymore with the user's real password. Mostly because using real credentials for that, circumvents any 2fa setup.
App passwords are much more scoped so the risk is lower.
Ideally we would have communicated that more upfront with the release, but that slipped through.

Thank you very much for the reply.
I’ve implemented it, and the issue is resolved.
