MeiliSearch is a RESTful search API. It aims to be a ready-to-go solution for everyone who wants a fast and relevant search experience for their end-users ⚡️🔎 In other words: an open source, self-hosted alternative to Algolia.

That looks great, in fact we are looking for a search solution in our docs at https://cloudron.io/documentation/ the current search is just too basic and mostly not turns up what even I look for while having written parts of the content. So far I tried to avoid algolia, since we try to use our own product as much as possible.

Do you know if there is already some example or docs how to use it with mkdocs?

I have contacted Meilisearch when an HN post about them was top, and got a pretty quick reply.

It was only to tell them about a typo, but they were eager to help.

Meilisearch is like a database. So, it has it's own export/import things to implement for backup/restore. It's not really like a web app. I think packaging it at this point is out of scope. It's like trying to package clickhouse, Snowflake etc.

@erlend_sh do you just want the RESTful endpoint or also the admin ui frontend?

Like my work? Consider donating a drink. Cheers!
