LDAP support in php

Hello,
I was planning to install Moodle and use its LDAP integration but I found this post

and was wondering if the current LAMP app has LDAP support enabled

Currently the Lamp app still does not have LDAP enabled for the same reasons about the username:password mentioned in the linked forum thread.
