@timka Looks nice! I'm guessing similar niche to Zettlr? https://www.zettlr.com/

@marcusquinn I'd say not entirely, Zetttlr is more generic and geared towards the general public whereas this is more for academics and to be able to output whatever format is required for universities.

This is a real pain, a friend I put on Linux needed to give back some work following specific guidelines in a docx word format and this seems to be able for you to write once and export in the format required without hassle.

Didn't know that one, thanks. Also on the whish list. There's so much nice OSS out there! But as far as I can see @ruihildt is right.
It's "quite" different, also it may do the same.
Yes I've more or less academic background. Word is a pain in the ass. Not only if you have to work with people that center a line with spaces but also I've you've set up all fancy formatting it stills likes to crash. Also I can instantly spot a printed paper generated from latex to one from word ;).

@timka Agreed! Markdown is a particular favourite subject of mine 🙂 https://www.marcusquinn.com/plain-text-markdown/

@ruihildt As I understand it the author built the app to help with writing his PHD, hence citations and academic features being a priority, and the biggest sponsor is Roam Research:

                • https://docs.zettlr.com/en/guides/guide-zettelkasten/
                • https://docs.zettlr.com/en/academic/citations/

I see the appeal of web-apps but, for me at least, markdown is about being able to use multiple apps on the same files, each for their strengths and keeping the data portable.

Fidus Writer looks great - but given that the App Wishlist is looking years long at the current rate, this is the next best alternative I know of.
