n.eko - stream a desktop inside of a docker container

This app uses Web RTC to stream a desktop inside of a docker container, I made this because rabb.it went under and my internet can't handle streaming and discord keeps crashing when my friend attempts to. I just want to watch anime with my friends ლ(ಠ益ಠლ) so I started digging throughout the internet and found a few kinda clones, but none of them had the virtual browser, then I found Turtus and I was able to figure out the rest. This is by no means a fully featured clone of rabbit, it hs only one room. It's stateless, so no saved user names or passwords.

Nice one! It's a great-to-have app especially when you want to hang out with your friend and family in the distance.

@hiyukoim On that subject, I found Jitsi was the only app that does YouTube video sharing/synching if you want to watch stuff together.

@marcusquinn interesting. How it is different/ better than how Zoom does it (other than the obvious thing about Jitsi being open source and self-hostable)?

@jdaviescoates I try to avoid Zoom & Teams as they seem to be resource hogs on Desktop.
With Jitsi browser, desktop & mobile you can share a YouTube link and start/pause it for both/all on the chat, so good for watching movies in-sync. TBH I'd not looked at if any of the others do that?

@marcusquinn can it do full screen for the video being shared?

@robi Yeah, with your faces in the corner

There's a maintained fork over: https://github.com/m1k1o/neko/
@girish or @luckow Can you update the link of the first post?
This looks nice!

@ruihildt this does look cool, doesn't it!
I guess it'd work great for watching films and stuff online together with other people (although also sounds like Jitsi does that well too)

@ruihildt Sorry. I have no idea how to edit my first post. There is no button/function to edit this post.
@luckow I have edited the post but don't you see an edit post when you click the three dots (or is that only because I am an admin?) ? Maybe posts become uneditable for normal users after a while. Which makes sense since I want that to prevent spam.

Can seeing this being used for webinars. What other options do we have for that?

@Kubernetes how do you feel about this one?

@robi looks interesting, I will have a deeper look, but cannot promise anything right now, as there are many different builds. I would try to create a package for Brave Browser if possible.
UPDATE: The build is very complex and I have the feeling that the read-only access in Cloudron Environment will be the show-stopper for making this available. I will still do some tests, but I am afraid, that will not work on Cloudron.

@Kubernetes yeah, all the browser path variables need adjusting for writable space, some for /tmp so it's not backed up and things like plugins in /app/data to keep.
No need to backup all the browser cache either, only history.
Time to use
/var/run/for runtime temp stuff. -
