Figured I could consolidate a few issues here and ask them all at once. I have a Cloudron setup with two mail-enabled domains and multiple mailboxes, and I use Mailgun as the sending relay.

      1. For apps like Nextcloud or Freescout that require setting up outgoing mail (SMTP), can they put in the Cloudron outgoing mail settings listed on the "Outgoing" page under email, or do they need to enter the Mailgun credentials?

      2. What should the config look like for Nextcloud Mail and FreeScout, etc? I seem to be having issues with both following what's on the doc site. I was able to get nextcloud mail to load using mailgun as the SMTP but the mailbox I logged into appears not to be receiving messages. Helpscout is a similar problem

For apps which send out mails from a Cloudron address, which most apps are setup to to, the relay is only configured via the dashboard for that domain as such. In fact one should not touch the outbound mail settings for most apps.

This is only different for apps, which are more like a mail client. FreeScout is in that category so there are no mail related things pre-setup from the Cloudron package. But even here, if you use a mailbox in Freescout which is also on the Cloudron itself, then just configure it in FreeScout like you would configure your desktop mail client.

Essentially in all cases, the Cloudron where the mailbox is managed, is the endpoint for the apps. Cloudron then will use the relay transparently.
