      Hi there!

After reading the documentation and being exhausted trying to fix it I need some help.

I just need to admin my Etherpad install but there's no way I can log in.

      The documentation says

To install plugins or change the configuration, visit the admin interface at /admin. Only Cloudron admins will have access to this page.

I've tried that logged in, and using the user/pass of the my cloudron credentials with no luck.

I tried the settings.json file following the instructions, but it wasn't clear to me how do I add up a password for the user created on the json file.

What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

@chetbaker oh I will update that part of the docs, but https://docs.cloudron.io/apps/etherpad/#admin-user should be correct about the admin status. Essentially add the Cloudron username into the settings.json file and that user would gain admin permissions after an app restart and relogin. The authentication as such works over LDAP on Cloudron so no need to put any passwords into that file.

@nebulon Thanks. Happy to re-check that part of the docs to be sure it's clear for a newcomer.

@chetbaker I've updated the docs there now. For this issue, did you manage to get it to work now?

@nebulon hi! suddenly this problem is back again. Now I can't log myself in as an admin.

Is there any way this doesn't happen again? Thanks!

@chetbaker do you have any error logs or such? Have you installed any other plugins on the side or changed the configuration?

@nebulon Not really. I didn't install anything different to what I had when I was able to access.

The only information I gathered from the log after restarting the app is:

Jul 24 12:29:32 [2021-07-24 16:29:32.529] [WARN] console - Admin username and password not set in settings.json. To access admin please uncomment and edit "users" in settings.json

^^ that's odd because the json actually does include my username under the admin section.

Current situation: the app is working (I can create new pads using a random URL in the browser such as pad.mypad.com/p/randomasiq9734riehrugrerg) but if I go to pad.mypad.com, there's a user/password prompt that doesn't recognize my main credeentials.

@chetbaker since I cannot reproduce this, if you want I can take a direct look at your installation if you enable https://docs.cloudron.io/support/#remote-support and send a mail to support@cloudron.io with your dashboard domain.

@chetbaker we receive bounce emails when contacting you via support. Not sure if your mailboxes are working correctly. However to give an update here on the issue, it seems there is a session bug within etherpad. To clear that up, please visit manually https://pad.example.com/ep_cloudron/logout with your main browser and then attempt a relogin.
