      Hi,

      we have over 300 users in our nextcloud. Some of this users can't be found in the contact search for sharing files/folders.

      I tried the solution in https://help.nextcloud.com/t/sharing-cant-find-any-contacts/13201/5
      but this ended with

      {"reqId":"q73dnUyhsMQQsdsLeLde","level":3,"time":"2022-03-05T09:41:44+00:00","remoteAddr":"","user":"--","app":"PHP","method":"","url":"--","message":"fopen(/dev/stderr): failed to open stream: Permission denied at /app/code/lib/private/Log/File.php#84","userAgent":"--","version":"23.0.2.1"}

      Any with similar problems here?

      Greatings

      Dirk

        Are those missing users listed in the users view of Nextcloud? I wonder if there is maybe an LDAP pagination issue?

            @dima then this very much looks like a frontend upstream bug. Maybe you can report it with the Nextcloud issue tracker and link the issue back here?

              @dima The log error is not a problem. It's a bug in nextcloud that it doesn't realize that it is logging to stdout/stderr.

              Can you also check if you see any errors in your browser console when searching ?

                Hi,

                I maybe found the reason. We put all users in specific groups. Only users in this group can share by username with other users in this particular group. Now I created a group Kontakt and put all users in it. All users can now share files with others. I hope this opens no security hole and maybe there is a switch for this feature, but it works.
                Feedback would be nice.

                greetings dirk
