I have recently (last 24 hours) begun seeing an issue with media files, including user avatars, not loading. I re-uploaded my own avatar and Mastodon instance images (hero image & mascot image), and they of course started loading again. But other random media and avatars are just not loading, including avatars and media from remote sources.

Has anybody else experienced this and have an idea on a solution?

@hybridhavoc perhaps just browser privacy plugins blocking the images? Have you tried in an incognito tab with no plugins enabled? 🙂

I use Cloudron with Gandi & Hetzner

@jdaviescoates I have indeed. I believe that something must have happened to my block storage, as I since noticed that it was no longer mounted at all. Unfortunately I think the images are simply not there at all.

In terms of things I had personally shared, that is just a lost cause now I believe. No major harm done there. But regarding avatars and images from remote posts, is there some way that I can force Mastodon to re-download these rather than trying to pull from a local source that doesn't actually exist?
