PHP mail() not available?

I was trying to install the secure.contactform.php on my ghost instance but can't get it to work. It needs PHP mail() to send, is that not available?

I don't actually think any php code will be run within the Ghost app, unless Ghost itself would call the php interpreter. Ghost is a nodejs application.
