Adding new local users

Is it not possible to add local users? If I try the page refreshes but the user is not added.
Edit: having checked the logs it seems it may be an issue with LDAP:
PHP Warning: Undefined property: stdClass::$LDAP_FIELD_PASSWORD_CRYPTED in /app/code/htdocs/user/card.php on line 813 -

Getting fed up of having to scroll through the same posts each visit?
