  • Backup to sshfs mount doesn’t work anymore
    E Eismer

    Good evening!

I just found out, that backups to my home server via sshfs haven’t worked for nearly a month. When I try to connect using the configuration menu, it says:
„Unable to create test file as 'yellowtent' user in /mnt/cloudronbackup: EACCES: permission denied, open '/mnt/cloudronbackup/cloudron-testfile'. Check dir/mount permissions"

Cloudron on the other hand was making backups for the last weeks, but was not sending them to my home server since June, 16th.

Does somebody know, what the problem is? Do I have to change something in cloudron or on my home server? I’m not aware of any changes, that I might have done the last month.

    Kind regards

  • Cloudron Backups on TrueNAS NFS mount
    E Eismer

    @opensourced
    Hello!

Is it possible, that you describe your way of connecting Cloudron with Truenas?

I'm using Cloudron on a VPS. In addition, I'm using TrueNAS at home. I want to use TrueNAS as backup space for Cloudron. Like you, I was thinking about NFS.

I'm wondering, if this connection is transport encrypted. Which port have you set in your firewall or are you using VPN? What user information have you set in TrueNAS?

I have experimented with Syncthing, to send my backups to Truenas. This works mostly fine. However, after a few days, I'm getting problems with permissions.

  • No "Server description" and no "Custom extended information"
    E Eismer

@girish Confirmed. I also found my description in the meta-tags. Okay, that's how it (the page design) works.

    Problem solved.

Once again: Thank you very much!

    @girish Hello!

    Thank you for your help!

I have been admin all the time and filled out the settings you mentioned. That's why I could wrote some rules etc. However, the server description doesn't show up anywhere. But some hours ago, I figured out how to use the custom extended information. I simply used some HTML-Tags (h2-Tag) and now it's working like I think it should be.

So, the only problem is still the server description. It doesn't show up at the frontpage. Do you also know, where this information should be found?

    Hello,

my (freshly installed) instance shows neither the server discription nor the custom extendet information. Only the server rules and the moderated servers are shown at ".../about/more".

Does anyone know, what I'm making wrong?

  • Fresh reinstall of Mastodon?

@murgero Thank you! I think, resigning from the relays will help. Your answer helped me a lot to understand some things about Mastodon.

    Have a nice weekend!

  • Fresh reinstall of Mastodon?
    E Eismer

@girish Wow, that was quick. Thank you!

First of all, I'm totally new to Mastodon. So, there are lots of thinks, that I might have to understand.

When I first installed Mastodon, there was nothing in the federated timeline. Then I started to follow someone from a different instance. From this point on, this account was known to my instance and therefore its public posts were seen in the federated timeline. Nothing more, no matter if I unfollowed this account.

I added some relays, what was a very bad idea, as I see now. From this moment on, I was getting instances over instances in the federation menu and remote accounts were mentioned in the federation menu as well, no matter if I deleted the relays or reinstalled Mastodon.

I thought, that this spam (it really seams to be nothing else) would be gone after a reinstall, but it's coming again and again.

Yes, the new server has the same domain and it seams, that the server continues to follow the old accounts. But they're getting more. I'm nearly sure, that there were only two pages of remote accounts one hour ago. Now, there are seven.

  • Fresh reinstall of Mastodon?
    E Eismer

    Greetings to all!

Is there a way, to make a full fresh reinstallation of Mastodon? I tried to uninstall and reinstall it. Although all the user accounts are gone, the known instances and masses of users of these instances are still their and ... polluting my instance.

For further understanding: I want to build up a new instance and was experimenting with it. But before really going public, it would be best, if I can have a absolutly fresh instance.

So, is there a way to flush the database or anything else?

    Kind regards
