Fresh reinstall of Mastodon?
-
Greetings to all!
Is there a way, to make a full fresh reinstallation of Mastodon? I tried to uninstall and reinstall it. Although all the user accounts are gone, the known instances and masses of users of these instances are still their and ... polluting my instance.
For further understanding: I want to build up a new instance and was experimenting with it. But before really going public, it would be best, if I can have a absolutly fresh instance.
So, is there a way to flush the database or anything else?
Kind regards
Eismer

What you did (uninstall and reinstall) will give a fresh instance with a fresh database as you expect.
Can you clarify what you mean by "masses of users of these instances are still their" ? I wonder if this is because of the way mastodon protocol is. i.e you followed many people with your previous server. The new server with the same domain and handle, continues to follow the old accounts. Is that what you are seeing?

@girish Wow, that was quick. Thank you!
First of all, I'm totally new to Mastodon. So, there are lots of thinks, that I might have to understand.
When I first installed Mastodon, there was nothing in the federated timeline. Then I started to follow someone from a different instance. From this point on, this account was known to my instance and therefore its public posts were seen in the federated timeline. Nothing more, no matter if I unfollowed this account.
I added some relays, what was a very bad idea, as I see now. From this moment on, I was getting instances over instances in the federation menu and remote accounts were mentioned in the federation menu as well, no matter if I deleted the relays or reinstalled Mastodon.
I thought, that this spam (it really seams to be nothing else) would be gone after a reinstall, but it's coming again and again.
Yes, the new server has the same domain and it seams, that the server continues to follow the old accounts. But they're getting more. I'm nearly sure, that there were only two pages of remote accounts one hour ago. Now, there are seven.
