Unless I've misunderstood what you're getting at, this suggests to me that you are severely uneducated about seriousness of climate change (and likely the other 6 - of 9 - planetary boundaries we've already breached).

I am / try to be very eco. But our glorious leaders are idiotic (correction : corrupt), and doing all the wrong things.
Despite their protestations, all they are interested in is bunging profitable contracts to their chums.
It's not about climate change (which is serious), it's about political corruption (which is even more serious). And we all fall for it, time after time after time.

The recently published Warm Homes Plan and Local Power Plan are both pretty decent IMHO (although still LOTS of room for improvement and not enough details about implementation yet).

IMHO there is much MUCH more political corruption related to keeping us all hooked on fossil fuels than there likely ever will be with renewables (which by their very natures are inherently more distributed).
