Huly Major Improvements Since May 2024 โ€“ Excellent Candidate for Cloudron Packaging

              Huly (https://github.com/hcengineering/platform) โ€” the open-source all-in-one platform (chat + tasks + docs + CRM/HRM/ATS + video office) positioned as a true alternative to Linear/Jira/Slack/Notion/Motion/ClickUp โ€” has undergone massive evolution in the v0.6 โ†’ v0.7 series.

~25k GitHub stars, 345+ releases, daily commits, and dedicated self-host repo make it extremely active. Self-hosting is Docker-first (see below), with clear migration paths โ€” perfect for Cloudron packagers.

              Categorized Highlights (May 2024โ€“Mar 2026)

              AI & Intelligence

              • Hulia AI assistant & real-time meeting transcription (virtual office) with confidence scoring (Dec 2024 onward)
              • OpenAI integration + AI tokens/assistant in workflows
              • MetaBrain foundation: connected โ€œsecond brainโ€ linking tasks/docs/chats/meetings (ongoing vision)

              New Modules & Core Capabilities

              • Advanced Cards & Processes (automation): approvals, subprocesses, loops, WhenFieldChanges triggers, import/export, versioning, RBAC, duplication, time tracking, CancelSubProcess
              • Controlled Documents / eQMS / QMS: traceability matrices, product/document versioning, activity logs, inline comments, PDF export, patch recovery
              • New Test Management module (plans, runs, runner)
              • Calendar, Home app, unified Inbox (chat + notifications)
              • Tracker: group issues by project, breadcrumbs

              Integrations & Communication

              • Deep Gmail/SMTP sync + mail threads, Telegram bot/channel support, Viber
              • Bidirectional GitHub sync (issues, images, PRs)
              • Communication v2: reactions, link previews, typing indicators (Pulse), compact messages, Office meeting controls
              • Guest collab upgrades: attachments, reactions, notifications

              UI/UX & Collaboration

              • Collaborative editor: drawing board, Mermaid diagrams, Markdown tables, math, multi-select/copy-as-table, multi-doc PDF export
              • Workbench tabs, card feed views, relation actions, custom icons
              • Print/PDF improvements, mobile Google login, workspace join redesign

Infrastructure, Performance & Security (Huge for Packaging!)

              • PostgreSQL support (KVS, telegram-bot, full migration path from CockroachDB)
              • Datalake/Hulylake storage, hulypulse (presence/typing), Redis, slim/minified Docker images
              • Backup/restore with verification, v6โ†’v7 migration tools, datalake optimizations
              • Security: password aging, strict RBAC, drive permissions, invite restrictions, guest tokens
              • Performance: indexing, memory limits, worker stability, print/layout fixes

              Internationalization

              • Full Turkish, Brazilian Portuguese + ongoing translations

              Self-Hosting & Deployment (https://github.com/hcengineering/huly-selfhost)

              • Docker Compose (multi-service: account, front, transactor, Elasticsearch, datalake/volumes, queues; optional mail/telegram/aibot)
              • ./setup.sh automates Nginx + config; quick-start mode; Kubernetes samples
              • Updates via HULY_VERSION in .env + docker compose pull
              • Min 2 vCPU/8 GB RAM (rec 4/16 GB); clear MIGRATION.md for upgrades
              • Recent: slim images, OIDC, backup enhancements, no-Hub-login builds

Momentum & Where Huly Leads Competitors

              • Rapid growth: 25k stars + constant community mentions (Reddit self-hosted threads, Product Hunt, G2 alternatives lists). Frequent structured releases show production readiness.
              • Leads vs competitors: True all-in-one (no need to glue Slack + Notion + Jira + Linear). Deep native integrations (especially GitHub), built-in video office + AI transcription, enterprise QMS/traceability, and full open-source (EPL-2.0) with zero vendor lock-in or per-seat pricing.
              • Self-hosted focus + PostgreSQL + Docker optimizations give it an edge over proprietary SaaS and fragmented OSS tools (Plane, AppFlowy). Future Global Huly (blockchain decentralized network, announced Oct 2024) is unique.

Why Cloudron should package it: Docker-native, modular services, excellent migration/backup tooling, and self-host repo make packaging straightforward (stateful volumes are well-documented). Frequent updates are stable and backward-compatible where possible. This would be a standout โ€œeverything appโ€ for Cloudron users tired of multiple containers.

              Self-host quickstart: https://github.com/hcengineering/huly-selfhost

Packagers โ€” feasible and high-impact? Would love feedback on resource handling or any gotchas! ๐Ÿš€

The self-host quick start is for VPS deployment using docker compose an Traefik. Not what is needed for Cloudron.
