Which photo app would you recommend that is stable (least bugs) and has an iOS mobile app (viewing only is fine)?

I gave immich a spin, but already hit a thumbnail regeneration issue (saw a post w/ a fix, but doesn't inspire confidence in the app). I was thinking of just adding the photos to my Nextcloud. NC is a bit sluggish compared to any of the photo apps on here though. A penny for your thoughts.

I can mostly recommend immich, use it everyday. I had the occasional situation, where the job processing got hung (thumbnails generation is just a job in immich) and it needs a manual resume via the UI. Otherwise given the scope and age of immich, I think it is currently the best out there.

@nebulon yes i just hit that issue on a fresh install and on my first upload of a few test photos. Got that sorted, but videos refuse to play.

I use Emby for my photos (I have a premier plan). The whole family syncs to Emby and I have been using for many years now with no problems.

At some point, Chromecast integration broke 😞 Not sure if this is beacuse my Chromecast is too old. But other than that, it works fine.

It might not be popular here but for me iCloud Photos is one of the best services by Apple. In fact, it's the only commercial service I happily pay for (as iCloud also includes reliable online backups, etc.).
The ability to search for dates, cities, countries, objects, fauna, flora, text in photos, persons, etc. flawlessly is simply amazing. All recognition is done on-device. And even more features are in the horizon with the new AI features.

@humptydumpty I have an Android phone and I had to convert / transcode videos to get them to play in Firefox when hosted in Immich. I think Chromium browsers worked without issue - I can't remember the details.

I don't have time to manually convert every video file I've taken though, so I ended up uninstalling Immich.
