    I want to set up a platform where I can curate information on a specific topic. This information would then be used to write a book. This platform should be able to do the following:

    • crowdsource information about the topic.
    • enable editors to come add and edit details and organize them in some way.

    I was thinking about using a forum setup like this on NodeBB with different categories and sub-categories. What do you guys this? Is there a better way?

        @timconsidine Perfect!

        @saikarthik Just be sure the "crowd" knows you are going to use their contributions to make a book!

          @scooke Yes. They love the first book. They want to contribute to the next ones. It's interesting. It's a biography though.

          I am leaning towards:
          collect data on a NodeBB forum
          Bookstack for the collaboration and editing part

            @saikarthik FWIW, I've used and really like the Wordpress plugin, Pressbooks, for such a task. It's handy to have the breakdown of the book handy, it has version control, you can control User access, and by installing some of the backend stuff, you can output a finished book straight to PDF or ebook.
            https://www.wpexplorer.com/create-books-wordpress/ is a site talking about it, but the link above goes to the .org version. WP also has to be setup for multi-site, too. Not a huge pain, but a step you can't skip.
