Limiting backup counts on large libraries

Hey,

My picture library is well over 100GB. I'd like to make sure the app is backup up once every week and kept for 1 month.
I've set that as the backup frequency in the Schedule and Retention section.

Now if i look at the last month i'd hope to see 4 or 5 backups. THERE ARE 18! I'm guessing from each app update and server update.

Is there a way to have automated backups and keep the number low? The biggest issue is I'm spending way more on s3 storage than i'd like.

@rollermy currently, backup options are global and also each update triggers a backup as well. This is currently hardcoded. We are adding more options in our next release (8.1) to make this configurable.

I found an solution to this issue by switching to rsync for backups (with hetzner storage box).
Since each backup is incremental, it doesn't matter how many backups are stored.
The backup size pretty much matches the app size.
