Hallelujer!
As a sidenote, in the notes in the installed package, the links to the docs is incorrect
https://docs.cloudron.io/apps/openvpn/#admin-settings
instead ofhttps://docs.cloudron.io/apps/vpn/#admin-settings

Since we got a couple of reports already that it's not working after upgrade...you have to enable WireGuard in the Location section of the app . This only applies to upgrades . When installing, it's selectable at install time. I have put a new release out which says this in the changelog.

Loads of people have been waiting for this for ages.
But what are the everyday practical uses it offers me?
My server is in Finland, so I guess I could use it try to accesss Finland only streaming services.
But I'm guessing that's not what people have been waiting all this time for?
What am I missing? What are the use cases?

@jdaviescoates Spin up a cheap VPS anywhere else in the world, install Cloudron, and then Wireguard on the free tier, and voila, you now have an IP in that country. I personally use Racknerd (4 US locations, 1 in Dublin), Wishosting (US, Canada, UK, France, Germany) and Hosthatch (see pic below) for these use cases.

Germany
I once tried to use the OpenVPN app on a German server to access German Netflix, but it didn't work
I can't remember what the film I wanted to watch was now (but I think it was something to do with a couple doing a permaculture farm or something), otherwise I'd ask you if you're able to watch that from Thailand using your German VPN...

@jdaviescoates what went wrong? Did Netflix detect your VPN or install/set up issues?

I'm guessing so. I wasn't clear why it didn't work, but it didn't. Was a long time ago now so can't remember the details.

@jdaviescoates as far as i know netfkix doesnt care about VPN

@girish Thanks for adding WG to the mix. However I'm going to be one who's asking for more. There is a WG fork called AmneziaWG. Have you guys heard about / looked at Amnezia at all?
The big problem with popular VPN solutions is that they are very easily detectable, so when people need to circumvent tyrannical governments, these VPN solutions become useless. AmneziaWG introduces obfuscation thus overcoming DPI systems (at least at present). Since AmneziaWG is based off regular WG, my understanding is that it's not far off in terms of implementation. I just started looking at AmneziaWG and so far seen couple of ways of deploying it on a VPS - one of those is questionable to me, another one seems a bit more secure.

A lot of providers detect data center based IP, which automatically gives away VPN usage. Additionally there are other ways of detecting a VPN connection. MTU comes to mind, if I'm not mistaken. So, having an IP in a country doesn't guarantee success.

Why would you want to bother with Cloudron when there are plenty of simple scripts that install OpenVPN and/or Wireguard and allow you to easily add/manage clients?
