One of my 3 Cloudrons was long time ago installed with 22.04 LTS and mentions: Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS
Last weekend I upgraded two others from 20.04 LTS to 22.04 LTS and mentions: Ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS

The big question: how/who is upgrading 22.04.2 LTS to 22.04.5 LTS and/or is it needed?

The dot releases of ubuntu are just snapshots of the ubuntu package versions at a point in time. Since cloudron anyway enables automatic security updates, the necessary packages are updated .

The rest of the updates are just bug fixes, installer, HWE, kernel releated stuff. If you feel differently about this, you can always update using apt full-upgrade but be careful of those kernel updates. In the past, atleast on at DO, the server won't boot after a kernel update and DO won't help. We had to revert everything and upgade using Cloudron backups.

@girish said in Ubuntu sub-version not updated?:

thanks for explaining, I'm on NetCup RS and during the upgrade procedure from 20.04 to 22.04 I remember seeing kernel updates going by and all went fine. I'll think twice before updating especially if it's not really needed.
