OpenCloud package hidden
-
Just a generate note, in case you run this outside Cloudron - this also mean that the app is not compatible with a) filesystems which don't have xattr and b) backup systems such as rclone (issue) and others. Looks like borg and restic support it, but I haven't tested it myself
-
Does that mean it won’t be installable / usable, for the time being (until some day Cloudron‘s backup supports xattr)?
-
I second that question. I could really need Open Cloud, because it seems the first solution on Cloudron to exchange files with a user- and permission management, besides the shitty Nextcloud.
-
you can install it by putting
/#/appstore/eu.opencloud.cloudronappto the dashboard URL. The CI is still updating the app package . But it will take some time to implement the backup features it needs in Cloudron .@nerdrelaxo maybe you can give cubby a try (an app we develop) but it doesn't have mobile apps yet.
-
So as long as I'm doing nightly snapshots of the server as a whole I should be good. Right?
-
That would likely be the fix. Just requires the backup/restore code to keep track of those and restore them accordingly. Given that this is the only app relying on this, it is not on our immediate task list though.
-
What is the current status of the OpenCloud package? I see that it is still hidden in the App Store but receiving updates. Does the Cloudron team intend to resolve the backup issue and roll out the package in the future?
-
we don't intend to fix the situation to require xattrs of filesystems. The app package however is in our ci pipeline so we have dragged it along for the moment. It isn't just the backups but also that would require the platform to somehow ensure the app is only installed on filesystems which support those features. Currently there is no such check available and it is unclear if we want that also.
