Migrate server : from (old) 22.04 to (new) 24.04 ok?
-
Asking so that I don't fsck-up a critical step.
I am planning to upgrade my Hetzner VPS.
Shiny new cloudron version surely deserves shiny upgraded VPS, yes ?
Just want to double-check my understanding that OS version is not critical when restoring from the old to the new, providing cloudron version is the same.
Old : ubuntu 22.04 now running cloudron 9.0.15
New : ubuntu 24.04 will be running cloudron 9.0.15
Backups on scalewayNormally I would upgrade the old to 24.04 before migration, but seems
do-release-upgrademight be problematic on the old VPS, as Cloudron is holding back 98 system updates, and I don't want to interfere with that. -

I think that's correct. The docs emphasise making sure the Cloudron versions are the same, but don't seem to mention OS version.

Is the question whether this is allowed? If so, yes. As @jdaviescoates said, the Cloudron version needs to match. The OS version can be different. As a precautionary measure take a VPS snapshot of your old 22.04 install before migrating.
