Error when connecting to the minecraft server :(

Anyone else getting this?
Looks like this happens with new installs too. I do have the port forwarded and it seemed to work fine prior to the last update.

@nebulon yeah I did. Seems like realms had similar issues when they upgraded to 1.16.3 but itβs fixed for them? Checking to see if I goofed anything up (in the morning)
And yeah I am using Java edition <β-> Java edition

@atrilahiji I am running 2x Minecraft instances on my Cloudron.
1x is a custom app which uses PaperMC and the other one is the native Minecraft Java app.The Java one has a different port
25566
and I needed to change theserver.properties
server-port=25566
too since it does not update automatically. -
@nebulon I'm trying to connect to our Cloudron Minecraft server from Java clients on Mac and Linux.
When accessing the server from a web browser, I am able to login with my Cloudron account and see that it is running. However, when trying to connect using the Minecraft Java client, there is the timeout. I am trying access it via the app URL minecraft.cosmos.coop.I I have also tried appending the port :25565 to the URL in the server connection settings.
Seeing the same timeout error as reported above and I am wondering if it relates to the the fact that the client requires a Mojang or Microsoft user login, and these are not the same obviously as the Cloudron users allowed to access the app? I do have Microsoft account set up with the client; don't see an option to use any other form of login but Mojang or Microsoft within the client.

@madrush You should have opened a new issue about this. Next time
I am still running my custom paper mc minecraft server and tested the vanilla from the store with no problems what so ever.
I just did a quick nmap scan of your open ports
25/tcp open smtp 80/tcp open http 443/tcp open https 587/tcp open submission 993/tcp open imaps
Did you do any custom firewall stuff? Since there is also no
25565
port open.
For example if I scan my domain I get:25565/tcp open minecraft

Thanks for the tip. Next time...

That was the problem. I didn't have the port open. But since I was able to access the admin URL, I didn't think that the main port was still closed. Thanks for running that scan and pointing that out!

The part about new topic is mainly to help other users finding what they search for.
The initial problem was solved already but you added another problem with a different solution.
Now there are 2 problems and 2 solutions in 1 Topic which makes it harder to find.
Don't worry tho, if it would not have been fixed by this simple thing I would have encouraged you to create a new issue and link me.@madrush glad I could help and now you can build some
s
Just remember that the web interface most likely is port 443.
The Location > Server Port is where you can see if other ports then 443 are used. -
@brutalbirdie Belatedly, thanks for your help. It made my social-distancing daughter's weekend to be able to play Minecraft with her bestie on our shared server.
