Error: "Edit username not allowed"
-
For some reason, whatever I try to edit for a User I get this error. I'm not changing the username. Guessing LDAP related perhaps?
Any ideas?

@marcusquinn Are you editing the user as an admin? Rocket.Chat has this complex grid permission system.
@girish Yup, I'm an Admin. (although I did delete the default Admin user after setup, not mad on leaving those hanging around). Wondering it it's because of editing my own roles?

@marcusquinn Editing works on our instance alteast. One thing to check if that when you click 'edit' on the user, if the fields are filled up correctly. Sometimes they get filled incorrectly, not sure why. For example, it would fill up fields like Nickname with random stuff. Maybe username is also getting changed without your knowledge?

@girish nope, no auto-fills. Wondering if I shouldn't have deleted the original Admin user that was set as Owner before setting my user as Owner?

Weird, setting Administration > Accounts > Allow Name Change = Yes then allows saves.
However, not sure if users did this it would break the LDAP integration?

@marcusquinn yup, reproducible - very odd though. It's a workaround but obviously some kind of unintended issue.

@marcusquinn Might be good idea to open an upstream issue.
@girish Just hit this again on a setup because I forgot the solution and came here to post. So at least this post is here for reference on the solution but I'll look for where to post upstream issues too...

Their bot didn't like whatever format I tried posting the issue on GitHub so after a 2nd attempt got auto-closed I just emailed their Zendesk. No clue why an open-source project would use Zendesk though
