@hollosch can you send us a mail to support@cloudron.io with the server IP and put our support SSH key into your server? The public key is at https://docs.cloudron.io/support/#ssh-keys then we can check what exactly needs to be fixed in the installer.

@hollosch thanks. I am answering here to keep others informed.

This seems to be a bug in the image flavor you are using. The issue is briefly outlined in https://askubuntu.com/questions/302951/update-initramfs-usr-share-initramfs-tools-hooks-fixrtc-failed-with-return-1 and the fix is to run

            chmod -x /usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/fixrtc

first. I have no clue yet why this is needed or in fact what this fixrtc tool is supposed to do.

Note that this is not overly related to Cloudron as any kind of package installation via apt failed with that reason, so maybe worth reporting upstream with your VPS provider.

Ok that was a bit too early, there is at least one other issue. Looks like grub is not used/configured correctly out of the box either...checking how to work around that correctly.

Ah ok so that was already hit some time back at https://forum.cloudron.io/topic/5243/cloudron-setup-script-fails-to-install-on-dedipath-com-vps-ubuntu-20-04/6

Can you let us know which kind of virtualization your instance is based on? Also maybe for further reference, if you like to share this, the product at strato you have selected?

                      ⚠️ PERSONAL OPINION ⚠️

                      Don't use Strato.
At first glance they seem like a good hoster, but they are not. Even if their pricing model seems competitive.
For basic stuff like a single Wordpress or something it might be fine, but I would not entrust them my systems.

I had so many customers throwing Strato out of the window in a fit of rage.

Just my personal opinion based on what I have witnessed.
