I'm not sure when Cloudflare added domain registration but their pricing is insanely cheap. NameSilo is great but the lack of automation with Cloudron is a bummer so it's time to move my domains (again).

NOTES: These are renewal rates from NameSilo's pricing page and based on the Discount Program. Cloudflare prices are based from the renewal rate provided during checkout. Please note, Cloudflare will include any final sales tax, including state and local taxes when applicable to these prices. Even so, that's still cheaper than NameSilo!

While writing this post, I noticed that Cloudflare has only a small number of supported TLD's and this seems to be the full list:

Edit: Here is the full list of TLDs supported for registration with Cloudflare: https://www.cloudflare.com/tld-policies/

I made a mistake with my initial findings regarding the TLDs available for registration with CF.

Nice, weren't doing .uk last time I looked. Now that's added, worth another look!

For other UK/EU people, paying in $USD on cards often costs a lot more on the poor exchange rates. I've found wise.com the cheapest way to pay for $USD stuff with the best possible exchange rate and other nice things about their platform.

The gotchya with CF on domains, is there doesn't seem to be an option to use any other name servers.

Given I heard they basically sell domains at cost, then the upsell for the odd ones that then buy into other services probably puts this whole area down to being a marketing tool for them.

              +1 for wise.

Here's a referral link for one free transfer up to 500 GBP! 😛

For domains I use and recommend the “no bullshit” domain registrar Gandi (another referral link, this gives 75% off a Simple Hosting S+ pack and 20% off the purchase or transfer of a domain name, but for hosting I recommend Hetzner)

I use Cloudron with Gandi & Hetzner

yeh, these are great and i’ve also found epik to be quite good. The price for .com domain is also reasonable.

I highly recommend Gandi, too. They often have a sale for particular top level domains.

Cloudflare censors and is becoming a chokepoint for the whole internet. Its Content Deliver Network is insidious.

The more people using alternatives to Cloudflare the better, in my opinion.
