I have just started looking around and here are a few options. I am sure you all will know many good ones.

That Kamatera has some cool config options in their customized toggle.

@LoudLemur Usually block storage is only mountable only on VPSes of the cloud provider itself. So, you cannot get a Kamatera block device and mount it in DigitalOcean server. Just another thing to consider when trying to find 'cheap' because you need to consider server prices too.

Hetzner Storage Box as Data mount on an Minio app 😬 might be slow but its cheap.
(and "scalable" up to 20 TB)

ahh Block Storage, my head read object storage like S3 / Minio.
Still Hetzner Storage bock as mount 😬 as "block storage"

BuyVM seems to price and scale a bit better than Hetzner with their storage nodes of which multiple can be attached to any of their compute nodes, however their compute node pricing and specs are rather unattractive.

SSDnodes do not offer dedicated block or object storage, however if I understand them correctly, they think that you could simply create an additional server on SSDnodes and use the storage that has, instead. Has anybody tried that? Since you would have a fully running VPS, you might be able to use it for some additional tasks to storage...

What do you actually want to do here? Store app data? Or just store backups? If just for backups, Hetzner Storage Boxes are hard to beat value wise https://www.hetzner.com/storage/storage-box (and I've never had a problem with them).

Actually I don't only use them for backups either. I've got one set-up as a Volume mounted to my Navidrome app with all my music stored on it too.

I use Cloudron with Gandi & Hetzner

Thanks for asking! For Cloudron backups, that is no problem. What I want is storage for app data, for example, the images in a gallery application, or the videos in a video application. From what I understand, these have to go to a block/object storage with the same VPS, as Girish explained here:
                  https://forum.cloudron.io/post/71151

Basically, if I understand correctly, with Cloudron, your VPS provider has to also offer block/object storage too, if you want to backup your application data on a different server. For example, Hetzner storage boxes would only be useful for app data storage if you are running your Cloudron on Hetner, too.
