Update from 7.4.3 to 7.5.2 fails on Ubuntu 18.04.4 with no notification/ clear reason.
-
I'm guessing it's just because Cloudron 7.5.X is not compatible with Ubuntu 18?
But it'd be nice if there was an notification or error message somewhere to that effect.
At present all I see is this in the Event log which isn't very useful/ insightful.
{ "taskId": "9606", "errorMessage": "update exited with code 1 signal null", "timedOut": false }
Surely a notification/ popup or something should prominently tell me that Cloudron 7.5 isn't compatible with Ubuntu 18 and direct me to how to update Ubuntu?

yeah, you need to update your OS to at least version 20, at best, get to 22
-
Yes, 7.5 doesn't support Ubuntu 18. You have to upgrade. We put an item in the Changelog for 7.4.3 -
**IMPORTANT**: This is the last release of Cloudron to support Ubuntu 18.04. Please [upgrade](https://docs.cloudron.io/guides/upgrade-ubuntu-20/) to Ubuntu 20.04 (Focal Fossa) at the earliest.
Previously, we haven't had the need to show notification for unsupported stuff . But starting from 7.5, we have a way to show notifications. For example, if server does not have AVX, it will show the error properly in the UI when updating.

OK, took a snapshot, updated to Ubuntu 20.04 and then updated to Cloudron 7.5.2. All seems to have gone smoothly!

@jdaviescoates Shouldn't the EOL of Ubuntu 18.04 last May be enough "notification", despite LTS?

heh, yeah, I guess it should!
This is a Cloudron I set up for others ages ago which I've barely looked at since, hence the oversight!
