As with the latest update (from etherpad 4.1.0 to 4.1.1.), I can't login via '/admin-auth' as mentioned earlier. Instead, I get this error:

The pad itself runs as usual.

All right, these are my impressions of Recogito Studio after the software demo:

The software seems very mature. For users, there are:

• the possibility to reply to comments
• Comments can be private, read-only or only visible to certain groups
• You can create reading assignments and link them to documents
• Not only texts, but also images can be annotated
• annotations can be exported as CSV (PDF export is in the making)
• annotations can contain rich media (e.g. embedded youtube videos or images)

For admins:

• can define different roles (instructors, students)
• Login is possible via SAML
• The software is GDPR-compliant

I pointed the team to this very thread, maybe someone of the developers might join this discussion. Again, I'd be very glad if we had Recogito Studio available on Cloudron.

Both config files contain "defaultPadText" – and the one from the file manager seems to be 'active'. Does the last edited config file override the older version if they contain the same values?

Could it be beneficial to clear one of those files and work only with the other?

There are plenty of entries in the one in the admin panel that I do not have in the one in my file manager...

I could log into the admin panel. I noticed that the configuration in the admin panel has different content than the settings.json in the file explorer of the app (e.g. different values of the "defaultPadText" value).

I guess this should not be the case?

I know this tool is more of a niche tool. But it can be extremely helpful in the field of (university) teaching: Recogito Studio allows multiple users to read a text or view an image and annotate (highlight and comment on) parts of it. These annotations can be commented on by other users, creating a shared reading experience which may be crucial for understanding articles or completing reading assignments.

I think it would be great if the tool were also available via Cloudron. Here is the GitHub repo: https://github.com/recogito/recogito-studio

Since the latest update to Etherpad Lite, the admin login won't work properly.

As mentioned here, the cloudron credentials of users are not recognized by domain-of-pad.tld/admin

Right, the one by Matthias Pfefferle and Automattic. It enables your blog as fediverse-instance and allows users, e.g. on mastodon to follow your blog. They can even reply to "posts" in their timelines, and those replies appear as comments on the WP site.

At least, since I deactivated the plugin, this issue did not occur again. I missed looking up, which users from those mentioned Mastodon servers followed my blog. Maybe their account was closed, creating some error?

Since there were some recent changes with Nextclouds E2E encryption, I wonder what might is the "most secure yet easy-to-use-for-non-tech-savvy-people" (aka "users", not admins) for secure file storage & sharing with Nextcloud on Cloudron.

2FA might be too much for most of my team, is server side encryption sufficient? Do I need any App that adds another layer of security?

I just played around with Invoice Ninja. It seems quite complex, but manageable. I do some freelance work every now and then, I send around 10-20 invoices/year to clients. So I thought: why not use a professional tool for that?

But here it comes: As far as I found out, I still need a payment gateway such as stripe.com to get online payments working. So invoice ninja does the same thing as stripe, where I need an account in the first place. Why should I use Invoice Ninja?

Is it only because I can get around the stripe branding by using only its API?
Or should I do my homework better and really should get to know both of these tools?

Maybe someone around here can point me at the spot I'm missing.

sigh here we are again.

Tonight, I received multiple emails as described in the first post. Strangely, I could not identify, why some users received them multiple times, others just once.

I could not find any connection looking at the timestamps of those emails (01:10am, 3:20am, 5:30am, all mentioning some events exactly 5 minutes prior) and the log files of Cloudron or the Nextcloud app.

Is there an "official" way to sync Cloudron groups into Nextcloud? I've done that with some other tutorials I found when initially configuring my Nextcloud. Here are my current settings. Maybe there is something wrong with them?

Just wanted to share an update: I guess the "extended permissions" in the group folder app/settings were responsible for my troubles.

I'm going to dive deeper into the logs and the Nextcloud forums. Maybe (hopefully!) I'll find some hints what's going on over there.

The Nextcloud Activity-App tells me that around every hour or so "an administrator deleted me from a group". Around 5-10 minutes later, my own account re-adds me to the same groups.

I've installed the latest Nextcloud release and ever since I get regular emails (1 per hour) that some accounts were deleted as administrators from certain groups.
After updating the nextcloud app, I updated cloudron itself to the latest version (I forgot on this particular server to do so earlier), maybe that should resolve my problem. It did not.

Strangely, in Nextcloud, everything showed up as it should (and worked). So I dug deeper: Here's one error from the Nextcloud Log that seems to point at this issue:

[index] Fehler: An exception occurred while executing a query: SQLSTATE[23505]: Unique violation: 7 ERROR:  duplicate key value violates unique constraint "user_ldap_membership_unique"
DETAIL:  Key (groupid, userid)=(cl-komm-kommunikation, davidlohner) already exists.

I remember having trouble setting up a proper sync of the Cloudron groups into Nextcloud when initially getting everything running. Maybe some of my modifications in the LDAP-config of Nextcloud do backfire now?

In Nextcloud in the LDAP/AD-Settings, I have

• ou=users,dc=cloudron next to the Base-DN Settings and
• (objectclass=group) in the "groups"-tab.

Deleting and re-adding the latter setting in the groups tab seemed to solve this issue (so for a brief moment, all users had no group assigned to them in Nextcloud), at least the emails stopped.

I really hope this was just a hiccup.

As @necrevistonnezr mentioned, there are some overly strict rules set in Germany. It's quite complicated to understand what's allowed for whom and how to achieve the level of data protection that's required. Especially if you don't have a background in law or aren't a trained web developer who knows exactly how to tell your server what to store/retrieve and how.

This unsettles ambitious amateurs (like me), so I'd rather be overly cautious than run into an open knife.

I wonder if a self-hosted Ghost blog can be fully operated from my own server (if I do not embed third-party content like YouTube Videos)?

Ghost relies – like many websites – on some scripts like jquery which are delivered through a CDN. You can copy those scripts to your server. At least this is what this blog post (in German) states. I'm not into the details, but could it be possible to integrate that in the self-hosted version of Ghost that comes with Cloudron?
