PTR record hetzner
-
@terrygogo assuming you're using their cloud service(?)
- login to https://console.hetzner.cloud
- go to the relevant server and then click Networking in the menu on the left
- this is where you can set your Reverse DNS (which is what PTR is mostly used for)
That should do it
(PS perhaps you could edit your post to add at Hetzner tag to it to help others with the same question to find this answer? - it's not that obvious where you add tags but its at the bottom of the edit screen underneath the text box you type into)

Yup, can confirm @jdaviescoates answer is correct and works on Hetzner, similar on all hosts too, and yeah, they can all name it something slightly different but you only need to do it once per VPS in the provider in their Control Panel. Nothing to do on the VM itself.
Oh, and nothing to do on your DNS hosting (Namecheap/Cloudflare etc) either, although that would appear to be the first instinct. It's a host network thing.

Yes, this is in the docs, but as I've said previously I think it should be added to the text in the notifications about PTR too, because it's unclear to many/ most people.

@jdaviescoates ok, good
