Android down the shitter? Pixel 10 or iPhone 17? Thoughts?

I've definitely made up my mind about going the pixel/grapheneos route. The only choice left is which phone tier to go with. I can get a cheap 10a and upgrade in a couple years or shell out for a 10 pro and stick with it until the support ends which is.. 6 years from now. The middle ground is a pixel 10, but I'm not digging being in the middle anymore. I'm spending $100-$150 per year on a phone no matter which option I go with. Funnily enough, the 10a is the latest release of them all so it has the longest support life of 6.8 years left, but I doubt anyone will keep using the "a" version that long. Not as the primary phone at least.
@timconsidine The PWA workaround is a neat idea! Pixel 8 and newer have 7 years of support from release date. IIRC, you had a 6/6a?
@robi I looked into dumb phones a while back and figured it wouldn't work for me. I'm not really a mobile person so the whole being-glued/distraction thing isn't a problem for me. It's the tracking that gets on my nerves.
@humpty I was pleasantly surprised that newer flip phones have all manner of niceties in their firmware including WiFi and Tethering (as in sharing the cell connection) built right in.
It's almost smart but still dumb with only T9 entry.
It was some cheapo deal at Walmart, TCL brand.

What mail app do you use for your Cloudron mailserver that has instant IMAP sync/push on Android?
Edit: I need to expand on this request. Need app replacement for the following iOS apps:
- Reminders
- Notes (thinking Joplin will do)
- Calendar (how do you sync Nextcloud calendar in Graphene?)
- Photos (a private/no-cloud app; obviously the pixel/google ones won't do)
- Findmy (is it possible to still connect/see my fam's iOS phones/gps?)

@nostrdev Yep! I got grapheneos running on a pixel 10. I'm moving from iOS so I'm looking for apps to replace what I had been using.
One more request to add to the list, caller ID/spam filtering. In iOS, there's a feature to send unknown calls to voicemail. I activated my e-sim on the pixel this morning and I've already received 5 spam calls today (that went through!). I activated DND and allowed only starred contacts to ring, but there's got to be a better way.

Our recommendation is to use a data-only e-sim (eg silent.link) and ditch the phone number. If you need SMS for 2FA, just use a web provider such as crypton.sh
fyi, for calendar you'll need a caldav bridge, davX is available on Zap Store
On Zap Store you can also see what apps others are recommending / installing (and zap the devs directly)

GOS journey update:
So many things that "just worked" in iOS requires a bridge, an extra app, or some hack to get to work.
some of the mess I ran into so far:
- google blocking my new gmail account and messing up with installing/setting up apps
- having to replace apps like findmy, notes, reminders, MAPS, visual voicemail (still not working), list is long..
- learning about all available non-google stores and their pros/cons
- GOS stock is UGLY so I had to find a new launcher but Nova Launcher is dead so more HW and settled on Lawnchair.
- pixel cam app required another service/app install from github so that you can click on the thumbnail of a newly taken image to view it. Otherwise, you'd have to switch apps.
- getting nextcloud calendar to sync with fossify calendar app required davx5 (one more app)
oh, and if an app is available in multiple stores, they ALL show the app as installed and can be updated. I'm lost where I got each app from. I believe the only true way to tell is to go into the app details section in the OS settings and see where the package came from. MORE MANUAL WORK. **** reinsert dwight raging ****

@humpty I feel you. Never fully switched to grapheneos because of the same issues. Still playing with the idea but my Pixel goes unused most days.
@andreasdueren I'll be making a full setup guide when I'm actually done with mine to ease the pain for others and my future self. App wise, shout out to FluxTube. No login needed to save/boomark or follow any youtube channel/video. You can also download videos but I can't seem to find the file location. Must be a permission issue on my end. WTV.
