Free WordPress Speed Optimisation & WP Admin Management Plugin - SEO Pro Stack - Open-Source, of course!
-
I made myself, and now the world, a free plugin to solve every issue I've had or seen with WordPress and WP Admin in the 2 decades working with it — and released it as free open-source to help solve the same for everyone:
I chose the name, SEO Pro Stack, as search engine optimisation is valuable to all sites to make the most of the effort that goes into them, pro because the web is my profession, and stack because I get asked so many times what stack I use for this, that, the other — so I just thought to share it all in one place.
(Note: it will always be free open-source, and no paid version is planned — these are the kind of foundational things things that should always be open-source collaborations, in my opinion — free to fork, too.)
The main clever things it does:
- Replaces ~50 other various utility plugins, and tells you which can be removed if you already have them
- Intelligent plugin unloading for WP Admin and the front-end — to only load those plugins actually used and needed on each page you visit — this is the biggest unlock to make WordPress super fast!
- All the info needed to check your hosting setup is right for the theme and all the plugins you are using — always been difficult to understand that, until now
- Lots of quality of life features for CMS and learned from client needs over the years — versioning and preview links to draft posts without a login is handy with clients that never login or want to share links with non-users before going live
- Give clients a safer "Administrator" User, whilst still hiding dangerous Developer-only capabilities, so they don't feel you're withholding anything from them owning "their" website, but they aren't distracted or tempted to do things that will cause you support problems
- Automagically cleans and organises your WP Admin side navigation and to menu — it's been a huge big-bear that WordPress hasn't solved this, so I have, and it's much lighter and less work compared to those manual admin organising plugins
- Lists my go-to theme for fast & capable sites, all the free plugins i use, and paid versions if you want those extra features — so has been battle-tested with all of these, and saves me from all the "what do you use for ... " questions — some have affiliate links, not for the money, but to give me some clout with them when making feature and fix requests to show that I'm recommending them, so their work being maintained is also my reputation for keeping things updated and the best of the options for similar
- All WP Standards compliant and multiple CI/CD code auditing processes for security and code maintenance all transparent on GitHub
- Fixes a few common errors, warnings, or issues that other plugins haven't
- As transparent and self-explanatory as possible for everything it can do — the readme is long, but designed for questioning in the AI-era
- A good example plugin to point your AI at for inspiration if you want to build your own plugins
Hopefully the right place to post, as many here will know me from the years of contributing to the Cloudron forum, and general obsessions with app performance and making systems admin as easy, trouble-free, and safe as possible.
You don't need to trust me, though. Just point your AI at the repo and ask it to verify.
I'm using it on all my personal, business, and client sites now — so, it's "in production", actively maintained, and aligned interests in keeping it all secure, clean, and fast.
If you like it, it could be the answer to almost all your same issues too, and save a lot of resource needs for your WordPress site hosting.
And below are a few screenshots to show what it all looks like.
There's lots in there, and I hope all self-explanatory.
Feedback and requests very much welcome. A stars on GitHub is appreciated if you like and use it.
(I'd be surprised if you tried, and didn't make it the basis of all your sites, for all the time it saves and issues it solves.)
If issues posted are in-scope, I'll get added quickly — usually same or next day.
If it's for things that belong elsewhere, I might make some other plugins to replace bloated alternatives or solve other common needs — with more respect to standards, decluttering, and of course speeeeeeed!
It's also my thank you to everyone here that gives so much time to open-source, and those that create and share for people they may never hear from, just because it makes all our worlds a little better.

Brilliant, well done Marcus.
When I used to build a lot of WP sites, even installing the WP Cloudron app and all the plugins was a considerable time sink.
The time saver trick I came up with is to do that once and save it as the wp-template app subdomain from which I can clone from backup new instances much more quickly already setup with all the basics.
Cheers

@robi This should solve all those time-hole problems.
I'm extremely time sensitive, so hate anything that wastes my time, or the thought of ever wasting anyone else's.
Try it. The Free Plugins section "All" tab has a quick way to install all my go-to plugins.
Then there's a settings update feature that offers all my default settings for each of them in just a click from the wp admin plugins list page.
Of course, you can setup one clean install and use that to clone for any new sites, too.
Everything about this is to save time for all of us, to preserve previous focus for the only thing the world cares about: the content and offerings sites exist to share.

Sounds very useful, I'll give it a try sometime on some of the WordPress sites I run for myself, thanks for sharing

Just released another update to this.
I have WP Admin speed-ups all all as fast as possible, now.
Pretty-much instant, and can easily handle a 100+ plugins if you so desire — it should feel as fast as with no plugins.
There's some extra optimisations for those on Litespeed hosting (sorry, Cloudron doesn't have that yet, so WP Optimise seems to be the next best alternative.)
Quite cathartic to have finally solved all this after all this time — as the CMS and many plugins I like, but the WP Admin really was a chore to manage — all fixed now, though

Let me know how you get on!...
