n8n env file location

I know this question might seem permeative but I still cannot find any documentation that mentions where to place the .env file at the self-hosted n8n instance (not docker)

Have you installed n8n via Cloudron or somehow standalone? This is a Cloudron forum, so if you are not using Cloudron, I think you have to contact the upstream developers.
