Matrix / Element First Run - Cannot login

Matrix was installed first, then Element.
The "well known domain" procedure was completed.
On attempting to login to Matrix using Element, the following errors were provided. How do we login?

Registration has been disabled on this homeserver.

This homeserver does not support login using email address.

Thanks, that solved it. I think it might help if this information is included in the "First Run" section.
