Hey there,
I want to give some feedback on NetCup - the hoster of my server.
I made the contract on the 4th November this year. Unfortunately, the IP address my Server got was blacklisted in several lists, and completely blocked by Google.
In DUHL I found out that the IP got listed on the 28th October - so roughly a week BEFORE I made my contract with NetCup. I contacted their support, explaining the issue, and their answer was that they can't do shit about it, and that I am responsible for what happens with my IP - obviously I am a time traveler, ruining the reputation of that IP even before I got it...
Don't use a company with such a support for any professional projects, or you're screwed -.-

Just wanted to make sure to bring this issue to the people.

@RazielKanos Although having trouble at this very moment, I don't think it's there fault, I REALLY like ssdnodes.com. They're always running good sales. Here's my referral link if you're interested

NetCup can't be held responsible for the reputation of the ip address, it's simply a result of what their users have done with that ip address.
And that's something you have to keep in mind when buying servers from any provider, not only NetCup.
But that doesn't mean you can't do anything about it. In fact there is a good chance you can revert it back to a clean state just by taking the correct actions. As marcusquinn says, Hetzner is very good indeed, but their ip's aren't always clean either. They might be on some blacklists or even blocked alltogether by some parties.
I had a similar situation myself where the ip of our mailserver was blocked by Microsoft and as a result none of our emails could be delivered to microsoft addresses (hotmail, outlook, office365, ...)BUT: I contacted MS and explained the situation. After providing the necessary info / proof of ownership of the ip, they delisted the ip address and everything is fine since then.

I had a similar issue with an AllInkl IP - it took them minutes to give me a new uncompromised IP, so it's a bit odd that they tell me "suck it up" -

Yeah, I am going through all Blacklisting Lists so far, but Google refuses to delist the IP, they keep telling me i should use a SMPT relay from my ISP or a different IP -

Alternatively, you can either reinstall the server and that’ll give you a new IP. If I’m not mistaken, restoring from a snapshot might change the IP too. Either way, Cloudron makes it super easy to backup/restore/migrate.

@RazielKanos I've used netcup for several servers over couple years, and not had a problem. Just my 2p.
As others have said, this could happen with any host. The number of spammy port scanning which comes from Digital Ocean servers (people using DO servers) is high, based on my firewall logs.

The chance of getting an IPv4 that has never been used before is almost zero.Yes netcup IP block has a bad reputation but you can always request un-listing from these lists.
You can also use tools to see where you are black listed example: https://multirbl.valli.org/ -

I am running on netcup and I got my IP cleaned very quick. It is a little bit of a hassle to click through all the BL-provider and it may be some limbo dancing but it is quite doable.
I had the same problem BTW with Hetzer and Conabo as well and the support could do nothing...

wrote on Nov 25, 2022, 9:24 AM last edited byWell - could do nothing can't be true. They can provide you with an SMTP Relay in such a case like with Google that refuses to unblock the IP - which is dumb, but hey, it's Google, they think they rule the world.
BTW, I got my issue resolved with an SMTP relay, unfortunately not from netcup, since they take every time 3 days to answer to an email. But my web hoster AllInkl, managed to set up an SMT replay I can use for my Server from netcup. THAT'S what I call a first class support

I do not want to use a relay and I got unblocked by google within two hours. But YMMV
