I am using cloudron on vultr, and experience few issues after upgrading some our of cloudron instance from 7.2.5 to 7.3.4, the issues are

    • The UI in appstore looks a bit messy compared to previous version , only icon and no text

    • The email section or menu goes a bit weird as the button and icon all missing replaced with text only hyperlink

    • I experience cpu spike sometimes

Frankly speaking i have no technical knowledge understanding and exploring more about these issues, anyone experience the same? maybe with other server or hosting provider?

Just checked and I'm not seeing these issues with my 7.3.4 on Netcup.

Sounds potentially browser related. I'd try clearing browser cache, hard refreshing, trying another browser etc.

I use Cloudron with Gandi & Hetzner

@luckow i have followed what @jdaviescoates mentioned before and it works just fine now after clearing the caches even took a bit longer as i expected, but i think maybe there's some issue with cloudflare cache as i proxied the domain through cloudflare, and i had to wait couple hours to see the changes took effect, normal condition

I'll take this opportunity to again express that I really don't get why so many people use cloudflare! 🤷

Just by going on what I see people reporting in this forum it seems to cause way more issue that it solves.

Everyone seems to think they are going to be overwhelmed with traffic and that they'll actually need something like cloudflare.

In practice, that is rarely the case. 😛

@jdaviescoates Seriously! And hosting Cloudron at your home. Oh well, to each their own I suppose.

some of us are waiting for more dns providers to be added to the list like Bunny dot net which reminds me I have to revisit a certain thread and nudge a certain somebody 🙂

Hah. But my point still stands. I don't really get why so many people see the need to use such services at all 😛

IMHO just adds something else to break and centralises the Internet.

I can see the need if you've actually got a very high traffic site that has huge peaks of activity. But otherwise? Meh.

@jdaviescoates I'm 100% with you. Personally, I fell in the crack of not using any of the services (hosting or dns) that are on CR's API list (using Contabo for hosting and DNSME for DNS) and I got tired of manually managing DNS so I switched to CF not too long ago. I also have a CR home server now and having a proxy to hide my home IP is the main reason I use CF. Bunny would be my first choice if it ever gets added but I can't get the CR team to even weigh in on the matter.. total silence in this topic.

I'm surprised the CR team hasn't added the top 10 (at the very least) providers listed on DNSPerf already. We need more automated DNS options that aren't hosting based (Hetzner, DO, etc.).

@humptydumpty I can highly recommend Gandi as a domain registrar that Cloudron already integrates with.

They are probably the most ethical domain provider too, which is nice. See their stuff about No Bullshit https://www.gandi.net/en-GB/no-bullshit

@jdaviescoates They're too expensive compared to other providers and I don't get the no bullshit policy (at least in the case of using their domain registration services only). Any way, switching domain registrars shouldn't be the only solution. I also don't like using the domain registrar's DNS (don't put all your eggs in one basket idiom). In Gandi's case, they're not the fastest either according to DNSPerf.

Filip at PerfOps replied to me via email earlier and said they will be adding Bunny DNS soon so that should shed some light on their reliability/performance. Bunny CDN places third according to CDNPerf and if their DNS is just as performant, we should expect good things once the data is published.

I did a quick test on one of my domains that is using Bunny DNS and it looks like they're in the single digits (competing directly with CF in terms of speed) but I would need to log multiple tests over a week to have some consistent results like I did in this post.

I'd never even seen nor heard of DNSPerf before, but I see they are number 12 on the list which aint too bad 🙂

Good enough for me anyway. I've always found their LiveDNS to be easily fast enough. More on their DNS stuff here: https://www.gandi.net/en/domain/dns
