I’d like to request that an email is sent to the admin if a reboot is required. As is, I’m forced to delay a restart until the next night because I’m not seeing the notification in time and that’s happening even with me being daily logged in to the dashboard (I use the dashboard icons as a way to access my apps). Thanks!

It's not necessary to reboot immediately. No rush.

@robi Good to know. I thought the updates only take effect after a reboot.

@humptydumpty no, that's for kernel updates only.

@robi Only kernel updates should require a reboot, so I had always assumed that the reboot request in the UI appears when there has been a kernel update.

@ccfu Yes, it means it's available as it comes from the Ubuntu upstream updates.

              There is no immediacy required.

Perhaps the message can be adjusted to convey a more relaxed stance and cause less anxiety.

Should be fixed with this anyway so a proper solution should be developed anyway: https://forum.cloudron.io/topic/3213/option-to-automatically-reboot-ubuntu-for-security-updates/22?_=1687196692026

Even better make live kernel patching an option. Ubuntu itself has LivePatching (license terms apply) and there are other providers that offer a similar service for a small fee. I don't know whether they play nicely with Cloudron's settings though.

@ccfu I've been running this since the beta with no issues at no cost, see here https://forum.cloudron.io/topic/7774/ubuntu-pro-cloudron/

@robi Thanks. I hadn't seen that. But I assume Cloudron still notifies that you that you need to reboot, right? That would be annoying.
