I have successfully moved whole cloudron setups to other servers, but now I have a different issue.
We have a client that wanted to try chatwoot to see it if worked for them. We spun it up on our Cloudron and set it up with connections to their email. We connect the storage to an s3 bucket in our system. After a few months we find that it works great for them, but now they want to move it to their own cloudron instance/domain. They can keep the data in the same s3, but move everything else.
Is this possible to restore just the Chatwoot App from a backup of the current system to another cloudron on my.cloudron-new.com. ??
They use email connections only and want the conversations to stay intact.

    Thanks for any help here..

      Read this guide https://docs.cloudron.io/backups/#import-app-backup

This is for general app migration. I know matrix doesn’t like it when the domain changes, but I don’t know if chatwoot is picky about migrations. Give a it a try and let us know.

Yes it is the domain changes that I am worried about, and how chatwoot makes any connections.

@stevespaw are you changing the domain for the chatwoot app or just the Cloudron server?

You can add the same domain on two cloudrons and reuse the existing subdomain for the new install if you want. Obviously, you’ll have to change/rename the existing app to something else until you’re sure the app restore is working right.

@stevespaw the App packages handle domain changes gracefully by design, and since the config doesn't change for email server, that's something that will need adjusting to their Cloudron.

This is good information. They are using gmail for the mail in and outs, and those will not change. They have about 20 agents that will not change. They are going from my.our-cloudron.com to my.theirown-cloudron.com. But the want the change over to be as seamless as possible.

@stevespaw you have many options, so just clone to a diff subdomain and testing things out, if it all works, do the DNS switchover.

Depending on who the DNS provider is, check the TTL and set it to something low ahead of time so you don't have a long propagation time.

Well it has not happened yet. The client decided wait until other issues are resolved. But it is still on the roadmap. I will post when it comes back around.
