I note in the docs it says:

Roundcube and SOGo can take advantage of indexed search.

Is there any chance we could get SnappyMail to take advantage of it too?

Or is that something that'd have to be done upstream?

(tbh it's own search is pretty snappy anyway for things like from= subject= etc - and those can be combined too, which is nice - but not when searching through full text of emails, that takes ages)

@jdaviescoates I wanted to document capabilities of each client when I do the "virtual folder" for search feature in 7.3. Hopefully in the coming days.

@girish Hello, I did not find the search function for attached files. Is it implemented or not?

@girish thanks for the answer, but I did not understand what or who is required and is it possible to implement it?

@mihailaks yes, we can look into implementing it. I already put it into our 8.1 roadmap (https://forum.cloudron.io/topic/9975/what-s-coming-in-8-1) . 8.1 is our next release.

@girish please tell me, will this update be in Snappymail globally or in Cloudron? I just have Nextcloud and would like a Snappymail update in it)

@mihailaks it will be in Cloudron. SnappyMail is only a web ui / frontend. The actual mail server is in Cloudron.

@girish I understand that Snappymail is an email client, but isn't it doing the search in emails? if you implement the search, can I somehow add it to my Snappymail without Cloudron?

@mihailaks no, SnappyMail is not indexing mails itself. It searches via IMAP and the mail server has to index attachments.
