Piwigo - photo gallery application
-
Great stuff! We will look into this soon.
-
I've given it a spin over the weekend, due to its new version 2.10 release and it mostly works well. To push this forward, I've forked that repo into the cloudron group and added @msbt to the project as well. https://git.cloudron.io/cloudron/piwigo-app

A photo gallery application (http://piwigo.org). Currently Cloudron has Lychee app, but after reviewing and trying that I find it extremely limited, basic to the point of not being useful.
Not being able to host photos is a major downside. I'd love to have a more featured photo management app available.
This would be very nice because Piwigo allows albuns inside albuns and groups and Lychee does not, what makes Piwigo much more useful.
@nebulon Any news about it? -

@nebulon Any news about it?@GustavoMarcante I'd also love this ASAP as my 2 yearly payment for my Flickr Pro account is due for renewal soon and I'd much rather self-host!

I don't really understand the difference between frontend and backend here. I've made an upstream issue regarding this, as at least for me the flow is confusing to say the least https://github.com/Piwigo/Piwigo/issues/1138
@nebulon apparently
The 2nd page is from when the gallery is empty. Right after a new install.

@nebulon maybe we can add a dummy cloudron picture in each new install for some consistency for now?

I second this. We're currently experimenting with Lychee, but it is indeed a bit limited, especially if you need a proper photo database (with different versions of the same photo, automatically generated albums according to tags etc.).
If I understand correctly, it's not advancing at the moment because you need input from the Piwigo devs? @nebulon

@kuchengrab yes, correct. I also left a note 20 days ago, no response.

Any progress on this? Last post looks a couple years old. I host my families shared photo library and nextcloud is not cutting it and lychee is too basic and doesn’t have a mobile app. Piwigo is mature, well put together, yes could use a UI refresh, but offers all the photo org and hosting features most people are looking for.

@seekis When we tried to look into this last year, we found that piwigo had two completely different login screens and were trying to understand the reason for that. https://github.com/Piwigo/Piwigo/issues/1138 is the issue and if you can ping them there to get an answer, it would help.

Hi @girish - There have been a major update and two minor ones in the last 4 months. Might be worth revisiting ?
Unfortunately I lack the expertise to check this, but providing I have some time, I am always keen in helping.I would value this as a great addition to Cloudron.

@neiluj https://github.com/Piwigo/Piwigo/issues/1138 is still the issue. When configured with LDAP there are multiple screens. Though, we have to check with the latest version if this is sorted out.

I have just published the initial version of the piwigo app package. Due to the lacking or broken upstream LDAP integration, I went ahead and just published it without LDAP for the moment. We will add this later once we have time to take a deeper look into this.
The forum category is at https://forum.cloudron.io/category/148/piwigo
As always please test the package and report back, so we can get this onto a stable path as soon as possible. -
