Why does the backup process block administrative actions?
-
The blocking of any administrative action (Installing, Resizing, Restarting etc. of any app) while the backup process is ongoing, is, in my experience, a rather big nuisance.
I take backups 4 times a day, each of which lasts at least an hour. During this time, i can't seem to execute any of the administrative tasks listed above.
This results in me experiencing a forced downtime, which isn't really acceptable to me.How do i avoid this scenario?
And can something be done about this on a permanent basis?
Thanks

@shrey we have a global lock in Cloudron which blocks app actions when backup is running. This was reported earlier already and it's in our task list to fix.
Note that when you hit this, just go to Backups view and stop the backup. That will allow you to continue your work. I agree this is not nice.

@shrey The fix didn't make it to Cloudron 8, but will be in Cloudron 9 (2 months or so from now). I can post a link to the patch when I push it and you can give it a try.

Yes, this is fixed. In Cloudron 9, app backups are system tasks and not app tasks. They don't block app operations anymore.
(Funny, that I said that Cloudron 9 is two months from Jul 18 2024... I should not make promises like that).

This was implemented just last week here - https://git.cloudron.io/platform/box/-/commit/0fa281083e4dbf250b400a1e2f1dcc4ec70ae372
