I have an email and the VPN app on a subdomain on my server. If I now connect to the VPN, I can no longer access my email server using applications such as Outlook or Thunderbird. As soon as I deactivate the VPN on the respective device, the connection to the email server works again with the applications. Does anyone know what could be causing this?

Did this change with the recent update to the VPN app, or was this always the case?
Can you also check if the mail server domain IPs resolve correctly when using the VPN?

If the update was released between 12/26/2024 and today, it's probably because of that. I made a migration to another hoster today. If you are inside the VPN you can resolve the domain to the correct IP. I mean everything works. I can also call up a SUB domain with a mail app, only the mail programs somehow don't quite get it.

I mean the Mail App you can install on a Sub Domain. Thats working. But the rest isnt. Is There any way i can see all login attempts on the email server, or does it have a log file for that?

Ps. Sorry for the Bad Englich I am using an Translation App.

We didn't really release anything there at around christmas from our side, but maybe your Cloudron or the VPN app did update for your instance in that time window.

Do you know which port is not working, are there any more errors from thunderbird, which part of the connection doesn't work? For example are you able to connect to port 993 (imap) or 587 (smtp) via telnet <your mail server daomin> <port> ?

The mail client apps like roundcube installed on the Cloudron use a localhost network so those are likely not affected by all this anyways.

Can't seem to reproduce this here. At least my Android and Linux laptop seem to be fine connecting on the mail ports via both OpenVPN and WireGuard. Btw which one are you using? (both are provided via the same VPN app on Cloudron)

I think @girish mentioned something few days back about email via VPN but unfortunately I can't remember the exact details, maybe we have to wait until after vacation time.

I use WireGuard. What is the Name of the "unit" of the VPN Server in journalctl? Mabe i can see something in this. because "journalctl -u wg-quick@wg0" isnt showing anything.

                And i have found a Post of @girish : https://forum.cloudron.io/post/98741

I mean it must be a new Problem. Because befor i switched my Hoster on 27 December 2024 everything was fine.
