I have contributed some changes to the official Github-Repo so that Friendica can be installed without any modification to the core.

I will add a link to the Github repository for the Cloudron Docker file soon, which will be a fork of the LAMP app.

@m-arcus Great work on this Marcus. Have you submitted this to the CR App store? Would like to use it as well.

@M-arcus be great to get this on Cloudron - are you still maintaining your repo?

I use Cloudron with Gandi & Hetzner

@Captain-Kirk I can package this app if you are willing to sponsor it (see the sub-forum if you like)

However - this can run on the LAMP app in the Cloudron store too without issue.

@murgero, I do not want install a Lamp with a feature. I just want to install native Cloudron apps. But many thanks for your offer! Great community here.

@M-arcus why did you choose Friendica over Hubzilla or ZAP which are from the same dev and pursue a similar goal ?
ZAP is the last one and the least immature.

So the question how many will follow 🙂 ?
@JOduMonT What in your opinion is the best way a FOSS based blogging and microblogging?
What I had read so far is that there is the need to install matrix, then perhaps mastodon for microblogging.
What is the blogging pendant, what do you prefer?

I have a client who is highly interested in Cloudron and Friendica. I'll test the LAMP app + Friendica and check out the (external) Cloudron Docker repo. Because we're also interested in making Friendica available to Cloudrons userbase, I could imagine helping and maybe paying for packaging and maintaining the app.

    So yeah, who's also interested?

About alternatives: Will check them out as well but my client requested explicitly Friendica.

I've tested it in the past - make sure to do the crontab.txt file for Fediverse connectivity (ActivityPub)

They are all great project. Personally I don't really blog, but, I use mainly WordPress with indieweb plugins and JetPack even if it is not the best, the plugin is pretty stable an allow me to reach a larger audience (FB/IN).

Depend of what is your goal, personnaly having a "website/blog" for business you want a big number of user, because maybe 10% will see you post, than 10% of this 10% will click on it than 10% of this 10% will take the time to read it and 10% of those readers will potentially leave a comment. So if your network has 10 000 peoples than potentially one person will leave you a comment.

While pro writer take around 3 hours to write 3000 words, it take me 12-18 hours; I hope passing all these time for more than 10 peoples.

Blogging : I use WithKnown (ex Idno) with built-in indieweb to blog & push to silo networks (twitter & different mastodon accounts)
Micro blog : I use Mastodon
Matrix chat: have matrix running too and can be joined at rick:rmendes.net

@robi looks like @rmdes is running Known on the LAMP stack:

Be nice if there were an actual app for it though!

@jdaviescoates yep running it via the LAMP stack but really wish this was a cloudron app, using postgres instead of mysql and with redis enabled, then if the app could use the composer env of how Known is currently being developed that would really be neat for upgrades

@rmdes yeah, I'd really like to use this on Cloudron as an app. I've never played with the LAMP stack as to me the whole point of Cloudron it to not have to bother with all that!
